It was a typical afternoon.
I said, "Paint your bellies."
They looked shocked, but game. And that is how it all began ...
It didn't take long before smiles curled up on their faces.
Or, until they realized they didn't need paper or canvas or even their own bodies.
Then their little brains took over, and that's when the real fun began ...
Purple paint below their feet; slippery slides they do make.
Purple butts, in our hair -- we had paint, everywhere!
Pure success.
Great satisfaction.
A little swim, afterward.
This creative activity was inspired by both the book First Art, and the blog Pepper Paints, which I found via the new and really cool Blog Nosh Magazine.

Too, too cute! What a fun activity.
Lol!
Looks like so much fun! :)
Oh dear I am laughing and can't stop that is sooo funny, I love it.
I am enjoying your creative exploration... so much fun.
Katherine
That's it. We're getting paint tomorrow. (And to think our twins love any event with face painting...full body painting, now THAT'S something!)
What precious, precious pictures. :)
awesome! awesome! awesome! I am SO stopping on my way home from work today and picking up some paint and brushes. we HAD no plans for the 4th tomorrow but now I think we'll do some red white and blue body painting. who knows, maybe we'll even get Daddy to be a subject - he'd be perfect since he's sans hair on his head! You continue to amaze me! The girls are beautiful! It's so refreshing to see someone let their kids just BE the creative beings that they are. All too often kids' natural artistic expression is squashed by society's pressure to stay in the lines. You're an inspiration!
So cool! The girls looked like they had a blast!
This is great! can't wait to try this at home! thanks for sharing. I agree- you are an inspiration!
Looks like so much fun! I love how they are painting each other's backs. Kudos to you for allowing and encouraging this...
Take care,
Jean
OMG, this is so wonderful. I want to do this now, today, me.
Oh My Gosh! I think my big kids would love to play like that! How brilliant! Great photography! Your girls are so sweet!
oooooh, I love this.
They look so happy in this moment.
And so free, so full of abandon.
I'm happy to see this happy moment.
love you.
That is soo neat! I'm going to have to copy that sometime soon! I love the idea of having the girls paint each other! I'm trying to figure out why i didn't think of that sooner! Your girls are soo cute! They look like they are having a blast!
Thanks for sharing this...
Brenda
This is such a great idea! Sanctioned messiness -- I mean, creativity. I'm doing this with my 2 y.o. soon.
I definitely need to do this. Immediately!
That's so cute!
That is magic!
(My son would never do that, but it looks fun.)
what fun. what courage! I suppose, if you intend for them to get messy, then it's hard to freak out about it happening ...
LOVE this, shawn! the whole series. priceless. and good to catch up with you. i want to be on your road trip -- half-hour treat bags and special snacks! your girls are very fortunate. and, i swear, it's crazy to see what two of my girl would be like! ENJOY... hugs, mpk
